An initial consultation fee will usually apply. Most uncomplicated and non-bariatric procedures will not attract any out of pocket surgical fees as a result.
All post-operative care until recovered will no attract any out of pocket fees or else will be bulk-billed.
Additional appointments in the series of care, such as when multiple investigations and discussions are required to manage a particular condition.
Additional appointments that are not clinically required but patient initiated will attract a consultation fee.
For after hours emergency consultations in rooms, when rooms are closed.
The Out of Pocket Fee listed applies to patients covered with private health insurance. Where a patient wishes to self-fund their private surgery, the fee will equate to the gap amount plus the fee paid out by a major health fund such as BUPA or MedibankPrivate.
Complicated gallbladder procedures where extensive adhesion division is required or bile duct exploration is anticipated, will attract a $500 known gap fee because of the additional complexity of surgery
Complex hernia surgeries may attract a more significant out of pocket fee due to the added complexity of surgery and more intensive post-operative care.
Laparoscopic fundoplication +/- hiatus hernia repair.
Revision fundoplication will attract a $1000 out of pocket fee due to the complexity of surgery.
If uninsured, a surgical fee of $ 850 is payable.
This Out of Pocket fee includes the emergency after-hours consultation fee and for call-out. Only insured patients will be be eligible for emergency surgery in the private hospital. Non-insured patients requiring emergency surgery are best treated in a public hospital.
